Free Year 6 science worksheets (age 10-11)
Year 6 is the last year of primary science, for children aged 10 to 11. Children classify living things into broad groups, including micro-organisms, plants and animals. They name the main parts of the circulatory system and learn how diet, exercise and lifestyle affect the body. They also study evolution and inheritance, learn that light travels in straight lines and that we see things when light enters our eyes, and draw circuits using standard symbols.
The sheets here cover the heart, exercise, how we see, and helpful and harmful microbes, with a parts of a circuit sheet. Earth and space sheets from Year 5 are included for revision.
In Northern Ireland, Year 6 is Primary 7, and in Scotland it is roughly Primary 7. Wales also calls it Year 6.

Earth and space
All earth and space worksheets →Children learn about the Sun, Earth and Moon, the planets of the solar system, and why we have day and night. Younger children often enjoy space as a class topic.
Electricity
Children build simple circuits, name the parts such as cells, wires, bulbs, switches and buzzers, and find out why a bulb lights or does not.
Human body
All human body worksheets →Children name the parts of the body and the five senses, learn how the skeleton and muscles support and move us, and in Year 6 how the heart and blood vessels work.
Light
Children learn that we need light to see, how shadows form when light is blocked, and in Year 6 that light travels in straight lines into our eyes.
Living things and habitats
Children sort things into living, dead and never alive, explore where plants and animals live, and use classification keys to group and identify living things.
Is science in the Year 6 SATs?
There is no science paper among the SATs that every Year 6 child sits in May. Teachers assess science across the year instead, judging whether your child is working at the expected standard. That makes the year a good time for curiosity rather than drilling: use the sheets to talk through how the heart works or why shadows form, and let questions lead the way.
Questions parents ask
What are the main parts of the circulatory system?
The heart, the blood vessels and the blood. The heart pumps blood out through arteries to the lungs and the rest of the body, and veins carry it back. Year 6 children learn what each part does and how exercise affects it.
How do we see things?
Light travels in straight lines. We see a lamp because light goes from it straight into our eyes. We see a book because light from a source bounces off it and into our eyes. Year 6 uses the same idea to explain shadows.
Do I need to sign up?
No. These Year 6 science sheets are free to print or save as a PDF, with no account and no email. Use them for homework help, revision or a quiet rainy afternoon.
