Free Year 6 worksheets (age 10-11)
Year 6 is the final year of primary school, for children aged 10 to 11. Maths covers ratio, simple algebra, long division, and fractions, decimals and percentages, and children build 3D shapes from nets. In English, grammar includes synonyms and antonyms, the passive voice and formal language. Science looks at the heart and circulation, how we see, classifying living things, evolution and circuits.
The sheets here match several Year 6 science topics, with a net of a cube for maths and a synonyms and antonyms sheet for English. A few Year 5 sheets on Earth and space and the Victorians are included for revision or wider reading.
In Northern Ireland this is Primary 7, and in Scotland it is roughly Primary 7. In Wales it is also Year 6.

Tests in Year 6
Year 6 children in England sit the Key Stage 2 SATs in May. There are papers in grammar, punctuation and spelling, in reading, and in maths, which has one arithmetic paper and two reasoning papers. Results are given as scaled scores, where 100 means the expected standard. Writing and science are assessed by teachers over the year rather than tested in May.
Getting ready for secondary school
Alongside SATs, Year 6 is about building the confidence and independence your child will need in Year 7. Encourage them to read a sheet's instructions, plan an answer and check it without help. Talking about a topic such as the heart or the Victorians over dinner helps too, because explaining an idea aloud is a good way to remember it.
Questions parents ask
What age is Year 6?
Year 6 children are 10 at the start of the year and turn 11 during it. It is the last year of Key Stage 2 and of primary school, before Year 7 at secondary school.
Do these sheets help with SATs?
They help with the knowledge behind the tests, such as vocabulary in English and 3D shapes in maths, but they are not past papers. Science has no SATs paper for every child, so the science sheets are for learning rather than test practice.
Are all the Year 6 sheets free?
Yes, every one. You can print them or save them as PDFs without an account, an email address or any payment, and use them as often as you like.
