Free Year 5 maths worksheets (age 9-10)
Year 5 maths builds on secure times tables. Children divide numbers up to 4 digits by a one-digit number and decide what to do with the remainder, work with decimals and percentages, and find the perimeter of composite shapes and the area of rectangles.
These sheets mix Year 5 work with times-tables practice from Year 4, because quick recall of every table up to 12 × 12 makes Year 5 methods much easier. In Scotland and Northern Ireland this is Primary 6; in Wales it is also Year 5.

Place value
All place value worksheets →Children learn what each digit in a number is worth, from tens and ones in Year 2 to thousands in Year 4 and millions by Year 6. It helps them compare, order and calculate with numbers.
Multiplication and division
Children see multiplication as equal groups and arrays, then learn to write and solve multiplication and division facts and use written methods for larger numbers.
Times tables
All times tables worksheets →Children learn the 2, 5 and 10 times tables in Year 2, the 3, 4 and 8 in Year 3, and all tables up to 12 × 12 by the end of Year 4, when there is a short online check.
Decimals
Children learn that tenths and hundredths can be written as decimals, match decimals to fractions such as a half and a quarter, and later round and calculate with them.
3D shapes
Children name solid shapes such as cubes, cylinders, cones and spheres, count their faces, edges and vertices, and in Year 6 build them from nets.
Coordinates
Children read and plot points on a grid, going across first and then up, and use coordinates to describe positions and draw shapes.
Perimeter and area
Children learn that perimeter is the distance around a shape and area is the space inside it, first by counting squares and later by calculating.
Tests this year
There are no national tests in Year 5. It is a good year to fill gaps, especially in times tables and written methods, before Year 6 and the KS2 tests in May.
Questions parents ask
What maths does Year 5 cover?
Numbers up to a million, written methods for all four operations, fractions, decimals and percentages, angles, and the perimeter and area of shapes. These sheets cover part of that, and more are added regularly.
Why are there times-tables sheets on the Year 5 page?
Year 5 work relies on knowing every table up to 12 × 12, which is a Year 4 goal. If a table is shaky, a few minutes of practice a day makes multiplication and division far easier.
Are these worksheets free?
Yes. Every sheet is free to print, with no sign-up or email, and the answers print on their own page.
