10 Times Table Worksheet: Free Year 2 Maths with Answers

This free, printable worksheet helps children learn the 10 times table. They multiply by 10 for every fact up to 12 × 10, divide by 10, and then work out four missing numbers.

It prints on one A4 page, and the answers print on a second page for grown-ups.

How the 10 times table works

When you multiply a whole number by 10, each digit moves one place to the left and a 0 fills the ones place. 4 becomes 40, and 12 becomes 120. Many teachers avoid saying 'just add a zero', because that rule stops working once children meet decimals: 10 × 1.5 is 15, not 1.50.

    How to help at home

Use 10p coins. Lay them out in a row and count them in tens: 10, 20, 30. Then ask how many coins make 70p. That is dividing by 10. A hundred square is useful too, because the 10 times table runs straight down the last column.

    Why it matters

The 10 times table is closely tied to place value, because 7 tens is 70. It is also the key to the 5 times table, which is half of the 10s, and to the 9 times table in Year 4, which is 10 lots take away 1 lot.

    Frequently asked questions

What year group learns the 10 times table?

Year 2, in the National Curriculum in England, along with the 2 and 5 times tables. Children in Year 2 are 6 to 7.

Why are there division questions on a times table sheet?

Division facts come from the same table. If 6 × 10 = 60, then 60 ÷ 10 = 6. The Year 2 curriculum asks children to recall division facts as well as multiplication facts, so practising both together helps.

    Is this worksheet really free?

Yes. Print it, save it as a PDF or share it with other parents and teachers. There is no sign-up and no email needed.
